The Computers are a tattooed hardcore rock ‘n’ roll quartet based in Exeter who recorded their most recent album with Speedo (of Rocket From the Crypt fame), are currently being taken on tour with the Subways and have been tearing up venues and radio waves in our fair country. The single is gold coloured and you get a free patch with it (this reviewer got “The Computers” in an hour-glass - now, where to sew it?).

If Little Richard and Refused decided to make some music together it’d probably sound like the A-Side of The Computer’s new single, Rhythm Revue. One of the strongest on their album and clocking in at just over 2 and a bit minutes, Rhythm Revue is an all screaming, all dancing hunk o’ fun. With a thumping rock ‘n’ rolling, hollering beginning from Aiden Sin on drums and Screamin’ Al screaming away, this is The Computers at their poppy-punky-rock‘n’smash-it-up best. The bass groove grooves its path, full of character and lustfulness, until after a breakdown Screamin’ Al, screams “B-B-B-B-B-BABY!”, with such gusto that would make Jerry Lee Lewis proud.

Sliding across the bar on the B-side is Surfin’ Bird, a hit of the Trashmen and the Ramones. Perhaps capturing both the rock ‘n’ roll and punk sides of The Computers’ character. Which begins with a high-pitched “A-well-aaahhh!”, from Screamin’ Al, before moving into the classic “bird-bird-bird-b-bird is the word” and some Screamin’ Jay Hawkins like grunting for good measure. A shot of attitude, swagger and arrogance this could easily be a single in its own right.

Have a shot of bourbon, get your sunglasses on and swing those hips.

About The Artist

The Computers

A four-piece blues / punk / hardcore band from Exeter, signed to Fierce Panda. So here's the deal - THE COMPUTERS consist of Alex (guitar / main vocals), Sonny (guitar / vocals), Nic (bass / vocals) and Aiden (drums). They live in Exeter and they fuse garage rock'n'roll with 80's hardcore. Think Black Flag playing Chuck Berry or The Nerve Agents covering Elvis Costello and you're getting the picture. http://www.myspace.com/thisisthecomputers.
