Dangerous! - Movers n' Shakers Review

Movers n' Shakers

Dangerous!

Release Date: 12th Sep, 2011
Label: Epitaph
Genre: Rock n Roll

Movers ‘N’ Shakers is the new single released on Epitaph by Dangerous! The band are from Australia and have a September UK tour coming up with Young Guns, Every Avenue and The Xcerts - which by the sounds of this track it will be a party not worth missing. It’s a track off their forthcoming Teenage Rampage album which was produced in Los Angeles by Deftones and Pantera producer Ulrich Wild and mixed by Marc McClusky of Weezer. All good so far.

This track certainly does bode well for the album to come. It sounds like sun-drenched and beer drinking fun on a beach Down Under. It sounds like the type of music played in back garden gigs, with beer in hand and plucking up the courage to ask the girl in ripped jeans who keeps catching your eye. The sweet chorus is juxtaposed with the roar of the verse. Frontman Tommy switches from screaming to singing in an instant, “raise my glass to you, ‘cause I know what you’re going through”, there’s an infectious, raucous enthusiasm to it all - it’s an anthemic chorus which is cut up by punching verses. There’s even a synth late on, right at the tale end of some heavy guitar chugging and light solos - before the aural energy produced by the band bubbles over in the ears once more.

While it is exciting and this sounds like it will be exceptional live, it seems to lack a bit of weight or soul to the track which at 2.25 seems a little fleeting. However, it’s a track full of promise for their forthcoming debut album release, which will probably be very good if this is anything to go by. Exciting stuff.
