Rather than there being a full original motion picture soundtrack (at time of writing), Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner has recorded six songs for the debut feature length film from director Richard Ayoade (better known as 'Moss' from the fantastic Channel 4 sitcom 'The I.T. Crowd').

While done and dusted in just under half an hour, this can be considered an EP or mini-album than a full blown soundtrack. Thankfully, it restores some of the witty wordplay and more pop-oriented sound of the Monkeys own debut album than the frankly more difficult songs heard on their last album 'Humbug' (kudos especially for the line "if you're going to walk on water/make sure you wear your comfortable shoes").

It also features a song that the band are recording for their next album in the form of 'Piledriver Waltz' - perhaps one of the best songs on offer here.

While it doesn't hang about, Turner shows that he can also turn his hand from writing for a rock band to the silver screen with almost no effort at all. While a longer soundtrack would have been amazing, it's certainly impossible to gripe at the quality on offer here.
