The tragic situation in Haiti after the massive earthquake that rocked the country has been felt by practically everyone across the world, and the relief effort has not been slow in being put into action. Simon Cowell has put together this one off vocal group (a la Band Aid) in a bid to bolster the fundraising - a rendition of the R.E.M. track, 'Everybody Hurts'. There is a fair amount of schmaltz about this version that might have die-hard R.E.M'ers baulking into their bran flakes, with current chart favourites Joe McElderry, Leona Lewis, Take That's Gary Barlow & Mark Owen, Alexandra Burke and Susan Boyle alongside more established names like Rod Stewart, Jon Bon Jovi, Kylie Minogue and Robbie Williams. To be overly critical of the song or how it has been arranged is to miss the point, however - to raise as much cash as possible for those who have lost practically everything in their lives. And you can't argue with that.
