Scissor Sisters
Bringing in an outside producer for the first time has given Scissor Sisters an extra dimension: there's a burnished feel to their third album (out next Friday), which, while not possessing the immediate disco-pop thrill of their gazillion-selling debut, is a cohesive and co-ordinated affair. New York's club scene at its most vibrant (circa the mid-1980s) is the musical backdrop here, and Scissor Sisters succeed in nailing down a pristine MTV electro-pop sound while pushing a few extra buttons
The standout single, Fire With Fire, is a reminder of just how accomplished they are at merging piano ballad with glitterball sensibility.
They sound like The Skids at Studio 54 on Running Out , and they get all Krautrock sinister on the weird Harder You Get. It's a grown-up album that sees Scissor Sisters stretching and bending their sound - even if it means they won't carry all their fan base with them

I saw the sisters live for the first time at brighton and what a gig. live they are brilliant and jake is the new freddie mercury . I love night work the whole album is good . i am a sister now and proud of it

The cover is a great work of early theoretical Queer art by Robert Mapplethorpe. If you're not comfortable with that, you might want to find another band to listen to.

Альбом замечательный, задорный, танцевальный, попсовый, но уж очень однообразный и устаёшь к последней песне от задора. Надо или альбомы покороче делать или музыку более разнообразить.Хороший альбом для отдыха на 1 вечер, но вы вряд ли будете к нему возвращаться в будущем.
Really grew on me. Maybe I should give "Ta Dah" another chance too. Until now I only liked the self-titled.

Scissor Sisters are and have always been a band thematically focused on sexuality and relationships (they're named after a lesbian sex position ffs) so why would it surprise/bother anyone that there is a picture of a butt on the cover of their third album? Seriously wtf people.
