Christ on a bike, we’re gluttons for punishment, aren’t we? Not content with having two volumes of the insipid soundtrack from this arch camp-a-thon thrust upon us in recent months, we’re kindly offered the chance to own this seven track mini-album, apparently based on a recent episode featuring the music of pop chameleon Madonna. I wouldn’t know if this was true or not, as the closest I’ve come to viewing the show was when I wandered into the lounge unawares that her indoors was watching it on Sky +. Whereas the soundtrack albums at least provided some seemingly interesting cover versions amid the pap such as Journey and similar soft-rock bollocks, the same cannot be said of this cringe-worthy, shameless cash-in. Featuring versions of the songs that sound pretty much the same as the originals, there’s practically no reason to own this if you have any kind of Madonna compilation. If you do rush out and buy this simply “because it’s Glee”, feel free to end your life as soon as humanly possible, please. Can this franchise sink any lower in it’s bid to scrape the filth from the bottom of the pop barrel? Only time will tell.
