Gabriella Cilmi
Still only eighteen, the singer who gained success for her track ‘Sweet About Me’ (oh, and providing the theme tune to the smash hit soap opera ‘Echo Beach’) is back with an upbeat homage to the pop of the 1980s on her second album. This is none more evident than on the first single from the album ‘On A Mission’, which, one ill-advised spoken word interlude aside (the clunky ‘you can’t blame me I got intuition/and I never miss a trick just like a magician’) it’s foot to the floor pop. While some may dismiss her as simple and formulaic, this is an album full of gems that were made for radio play, and like the massively successful Lady Gaga, this is never a bad thing in terms of sales. Obtaining the expertise of the production team Xenomania, who have worked with the likes of Sugababes, Girls Aloud and Pet Shop Boys may just propel Cilmi into being a household name, and combined with her looks and voice, she may prove to be a complete package......oh, did I forget to mention that she is a hottie?

I LOVE "Ten." "Love Me Cos You Want To" was my absolute favorite song last year. I'm not even that big into female vocalists and Cilmi's album was pretty much all I played last year.

Love Superhot and Boys, it quite a change from her last album but I like it.
I really did not anticipate this album being so drastically different. It kind of hurt me when I heard it first. I love Gabriella no less but I can't say I'm adapting to the change. =/ I like Defender though. I feel she's not maximizing her potential with an electro pop album. She has such a beautiful voice.

Way more solid and cohesive then album number 1. Makes more sense and is a good mesh of retro eletro-pop and modern eletro-pop. My absolute favourites are Heart's Don't Lie and Superman!
